Well, since I am not exposed to you every day, I am not yet sick of you going on and on about not smoking. The funny thing is that I myself had two cigarettes in the last two days, one last night and one the night before. But I can honestly tell you right now that I don't miss them, that I felt weirdly obliged to have those two cigarettes, that I do still love the smell of cigarettes and everything else about them but that I could happily never smoke another one again as long as I lived, or I could have another one tomorrow night, or tonight for that matter, and nothing would change, I would still be fine with not having one ever again. But: you should not have gotten out of fishing. Fishing is good and important and demonstrates your ability to maintain your position at the top of the goddamned food chain, which is an important thing to remind yourself of especially if you're trying to quit smoking. (I especially liked your going on and on about the taste of food. I already mentioned the weight gain thing didn't I? because that's where it starts, with the ability to taste again and the subsequent desire to taste more. And more.)

Also: you should read Italo Svevo.

Hang in there, pal. Drink lots of coffee and chew on pens when you're at work.

That's about the best advice I've got, though. Everything else is all you.

I'm so proud of you, Christopher! Don't give in just yet... You're right about those dirty tricks that your mind will play on you. I have been exTREMEly close to relapse myself. Keep at it and we will one day hang out together - non-smokers - and go get some Thai food.

Fuck Dave Eggers, say NO. Read Italo Calvino.

I'm currently in the process of deciding to quit, and i'm pretty impressed at your progress. Last time I tried to quit I broke at 2 days. :( Hoping to get better this time.
