Commentary:

ive been to the manteno state hospital just recently and what everyone said that it isnt haunted isnt true because me and my friends were checking it out and we heard a bunch of freaky @#$% also if you would like to keep partiers away then actually put police officers out there because we were out there everyday last weekend all day long and there wasnt one cop.

Posted by: chicken little at February 24, 2004 08:53 PM

I agree. The hospital is pretty damn freaky. I've live in Manteno all my life and my grandma used to work out there. she's always told me how great it was, but to a younger generation, it's just some freaky shit.

Posted by: mantenoian at April 2, 2004 07:39 PM

My friends and I went out there twice this past week and it was kinda disturbing. We heard some strange things and the fact that it was stinkin dark didn't help any. Does anyone know about the room that had all that writing in it from ceiling to floor including the door and tubs? What does all that mean? None of it made sense. Was it written by a patient?

Posted by: Sarah at April 10, 2004 09:28 PM

No, the writing was probably done by some kids that like to trespass. But, it does make the whole experience creepier.

Haven't been there in about 8 years. Since they started building houses and demolishing. But, from what I remember it was no place to hang out. I can't believe they are actually building houses on that place. They need to let the place alone.

Posted by: Jennifer at April 24, 2004 01:22 AM

hey, i just wanted to add my bit about a rumor i heard about the writting cuz i live near the hospital and have been there alot, it was suppossedly written my a paitent in the blood of a gaurd he killed. It said REPENT all over the room, but who knows, it was probably a bunch of little kids goofing off.

Posted by: Kelsey at April 29, 2004 04:52 PM

i was out there last weekend with some frineds but only for a short while becuase "cops just wait for ppl out there" or so we were told anyways we took pics and shit and there was some messed up shit there we when into 4 differant buildings and let me tell you scary shit. when you walk around the grounds you get a feeling in your stomach and when you go inside its even worst...

Posted by: HiTmaN at April 30, 2004 12:15 PM

It was New years eve and me and my brother and his gf went there. We both have been there before and had some disturbed feelings, but as soon as wed the car door there was banging. Very loud, almost rhythmic. As we walked towards the building it got louder and louder. I felt them poking my shoulder and heard screams. It was some scary s*&%

Posted by: Kris at May 3, 2004 02:17 PM

I've been there bout 5 times in the least week. i have found out that its scary, but i think all the noises heard out there were either kids in the same place. Also bums sleep there and shit there for a place of shelter its all in the mind

Posted by: james at May 11, 2004 12:27 AM

The writeings were done by an "art" student.

Posted by: Satatic at May 11, 2004 08:17 AM

"I can't believe they are actually building houses on that place. They need to let the place alone." Yes, Smith was soposed to turn this place into strictly industrial. He was supposed to be solving the problems that Manteno State Hospital closing created. So much job loss. You know how much he bought this place for? 1$

Posted by: Satatic at May 11, 2004 08:20 AM

i went there yesterday didnt see any scary @#$* but me and my freinds saw some hot girls that live down the street, it cool to look at when ur crunked.

Posted by: I at July 25, 2004 07:41 PM

i think the best thing to do is to take a shit load of shrooms and then explore the place. trust me youl love it

Posted by: bubba sparx at July 28, 2004 03:42 PM

I was out there when Diversatech first bought the place. The gym was used for some volleyball tournaments and things like that. All of the buildings were still there at the time. Many that place gave me the creeps. We had a chance to explore without getting arrested. There are actually underground tunnels from building to building. I don't know if they are still there but it's by far the scariest place I've ever been.

Posted by: SpecialED at July 29, 2004 11:44 PM

The writing on the walls, and the bathtub if you saw that too, was not written by tresspassers. Some of it was written by a nurse. It's the medical records of a girl named Gennie... some of the writing is also written by a lady (can't think of her name) who did research on Gennie and was re-inacting the situation.

I've only been to diversatech once but I've done a lot of research on it. When I went there, there were some freaky things going on... if you've never been to the Adams house, you haven't seen ANYTHING. All of us in the group i was with heard running water (the utilities have been shut off for 20 years). There were a lot of other things but e-mail me if you'd like to know more.

lmfao.. we literally live across the street from the buildings.. its not effin scary.. we go in the library and bartley crap without flashlights..there arent any cops out there anymore.. so do what you want lol.. if you have any questions.. my aim is: tpr68

i was out there tonight and there were people from indiana out there..

i know everything about this place, and the people that said they saw ghosts and.. heard screams.. it was probably us being dicks.. lol..its fun to explore though.

anyways.. IM me..i like to talk about that place..

Posted by: Tim at October 3, 2004 10:51 PM

OH.. and the writings like "Unknown" and the shit in the builing in the tub were done by a kid named brandon.. not Geene or whatever. thats a load of crap. an an earlier response said.. blood of a guard? wtf people.. this wasnt a zoo/prison.. it was a well run hospital. everyone was moved out.. and it was closed down. My uncle george Was a RN group director there in the late 70's right before it closed down.. there were only a few bad people there.. the rest were just metally challenged..

yes. there was electoshock therepy.. and lobadomy in the early 30's but nothing else..

any freaky stuff you see out there is done by us local kids.. to scare you other people. and if the cops do show up.. just go in a building. they wont follow.. and they wont let the canine go either?

any questions? tpr68 - aim

Posted by: Tim at October 3, 2004 11:03 PM

this place is really haunted. i have pictures from this place that I took during the day that had some crazy stuff on them. so yes this place is really haunted. and the kids vandalizing the place, grow up

Posted by: at October 7, 2004 12:53 PM

i've been to diversetech many times. you can jump through the celings in the main building if u go up to the attic. go stand under the water tower and look up. it's pretty freaky. and the tunnels aren't real tunnels. its like a two feet high space with pipes going from building to building. u have to crawl the whole time and their is rats. but WATCH FOR COPS!!!

i went there a few weeks ago at 1230 at nite, and at 330 in the afternoon, and that place is seriously fucked up. everyone i have talked to says the same things. the room w/ the tubs and the writing, its black paint, not blood morons. from what i hear, there are no cops really so dont be so worried about that. i was definitely terrified tho the whole time...of nothing really. theres no such thing as ghosts tho. just demons and angels. and there's no reason angels would be there. it's probably demons trying to scare the shit out of all of us and screw us up. why the heck cant anyone find any information on the place? if nothing weird or bad or horrible happened there, then why the missing records of anything that went on there at all???? seems like someone's trying to hide something to me.
but i'm never going back there, b/c i had terrible images in my mind when i got home, for a few days. evertime i closed my eyes i would picture horrible things happening, and i've never even seen anything like the things i was picturing. it made me a little crazy
